Monday

I had my dentist appointment at 8:00 this morning. It was the first visit with a new dentist, and I really liked the office.  My only complaint was all the dad-gum reminders they sent me!  Three calls, two texts, and had they also had my email address, I would have gotten reminders that way too!!  Anyway, that appointment started out the day, and from there, I went to Dr. Gomez because Ornery was already off work today and we decided to switch our appointments from Wednesday to today so he wouldn't have to take time off.

The dentist says I have one cracked filling (an old amalgam) and one failed composite filling that has some decay underneath it.  Back I go in a couple of weeks for the repairs... Dr. G gave us good reports, and the horrible staph infection Ornery has been fighting on his finger appears to be (according to his testing) gone.  We are just waiting for the skin to finish clearing up to call it a done deal.  It has been several weeks of misery, soaking, peeling, blistering, etc. I know he is glad to be seeing the end of it.

We got a teensy bit of rain today, not enough to even count as a shower, but at least the cloud cover kept the temperature below 100 all day.  We had our coffee on the porch for (I think) the first time since we moved. The afternoon was spent in idle pursuits--Mom came over for a little while between sessions at Kenneth Hagin's Camp Meeting, and Ornery took a nap.  I read the rest of Jane of Lantern Hill which I had started last night. It seemed like pretty much a wasted day.

I have been saying for several days that I would spend the day at home cooking.  Tomorrow HAS to be that day! Laundry, cooking, vacuuming, etc.  I may not even answer the phone! Ornery goes to work in his new office tomorrow, and I think he's got mixed feelings about it.  Change is not his most favorite thing, but I know he is looking forward to being that much closer to home. He has promised to finish the painting of the kitchen (still has behind the refrigerator) before Friday, but despite our good intentions of getting it done today, it didn't happen.

I am off to bed now! Looking forward to a quiet day tomorrow.  It seems like it has been a while since I had one of those.
