The picture isn't the best quality--Elizabeth told me to text a picture of the completed project to Michael so I took it with my phone. Sometimes that is good and others not so much. Anyway, I LOVE this. It is just to the right of my chair, and I can reach all sorts of things that I use a lot, but don't want to have out on the table all the time. Sometimes I think something is going to work great but then when I start working with it the reality is different from the vision. Not this time! I crafted Friday evening, Saturday morning and evening, and most of the day Sunday, and I was able to keep most of the table free of tools and extra stuff as it was so easy to put away.
My friend Nita, who lives a couple of hours south of here came to visit on Friday, and Ornery's mom, sister and brother-in-law came for a steaks-on-the-grill lunch on Saturday. Mom wanted to discuss her future in case she ends up in a care facility, incapacitated, etc. Not the most fun topic, but we managed to dispense with it relatively painlessly. And lunch was delickity! :)
I have posted some of the cards I made over on the design blog, but here is a photo of most of them spread out on my studio table. I sent out three of them and I made two more after I took the picture.

The only other activity (besides washing practically every dish in the kitchen!) was letter writing. I signed up on a pen-pal list and picked about 15 names from the list to initiate contact with. Then I wrote my sister to see if I could interest her in snailmailing with me. I heard back from two of the contacts I emailed so I sent the first letter to each of them as well.
This afternoon I was thinking about how to keep track of who I wrote and when and decided to set up a notebook, because I am really not very good at remembering things these days--or ever, really! My next paper craft project is to fix up a cover for the notebook, but I already have pages for each of the women I wrote to.
The other art project I have in the wings is to refresh the pieces on a mobile we have in our dining room. We can't tell if it has actually faded or if it is just our imagination, but I figure a little twinkling H2O action on them couldn't hurt. Ornery has to use the ladder to get it down, so I am just waiting on him for that to happen.
So, I have a busy week planned with box painting, mobile refreshing and hopefully more letter writing. I haven't heard back from the Gabby Jack Ranch, so I don't know if they just got busy or if they found someone else they liked better for the "job." Either way, I don't seem to lack things to do! Happy Weekend!

Your cards are so pretty. :D You sure got a lot accomplished! It's nice to have a comfy place to work!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I did feel like I had a very productive weekend, yet it was quiet and not rushed at all. Even the entertaining was fairly painless! :)

The art of the dovetail. Never got much time to work on that style of joinery. Your cards are awesome. Do you custom make them for people? I just spent an awesome weekend with my folks that are up from Florida and they spoiled me so much. Pops bought us dinner out both nights along with drinks. He even ordered him and I each a humidor full of cigars and Mom bought me a new pressure canner. Man what a weekend. It would be so cool to have a card that had all those things on there so I could send it to them with a big thanks!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes! I do make custom cards, let me think about how I can incorporate all that in a card. I will think about it, and meanwhile, I will need an address to send it to, and if you want to email that to me, that would be fine.
