Should I?

I have felt for several years that I wanted to write a book.  I even joined a writer's group for a while with plans to write a fiction piece before I realized I don't lie very well.

I also have toyed with the idea of writing a biography--because I really have had an interesting life and even if no one else thinks so, my grand-kids might some day...

For a while I thought about writing a serious piece on obesity and all the prejudices, challenges and frustrations of living with that condition.  I haven't given up on that.

Lately I have been toying with doing a humorous piece entitled Supposed Opinions of Previous Homeowners which would be an illustrated piece to consider the age old question, "What were they thinking??!"  It could be a text book on how NOT to make home repairs! I am pretty sure 507 has given me a good start on the material I would need!  Elizabeth said some of the illustrations could be pretty fun to draw, such as the part about the "hot" electrical wires behind the shower wall... we laughed about that for quite a while.

CW shared a quote from someone he heard once.  I can't remember exactly how it went or who he quoted, but it went something along the lines of "I shudder to think of all the stupidity creeping toward the check-out line at Home Depot."

Yeah, that.

  1. I've thought about writing a biography but I wonder if anyone would care to read it. Some of my friends have urged me to blog about my Deadhead years. I may, one of these days!

  6. LOVE the idea of a book for your grandchildren. Often what happens as we age we realize we didn't know much about our parents as people, certainly the same with Grandparents. We knew them as parents and grandparents, but not as people. Fun background with all paint colors. Everything was pink in our house when we started doing projects......truly what were they thinking! Even pink on the cement blocks for the basement!

  7. If it makes you happy, do it! If it doesn't, don't. Okay, I'm not going to win any profound comment prize with this comment!
