Now, Where Was I?

I am feeling a little disoriented today without the list of things to do at 507 to keep me busy. That was a little bit bigger project than I am used to these days, but back in the day, I remember having a few time consuming gigs that took a few days to recover from. I will adjust quickly.

The gutters are to be installed today and the old ones hauled off--and good riddance to that smelly mess!

Meanwhile, the Man Cave looks like an episode of Hoarders!  We hauled home two full pickup bed loads of stuff from the garage yesterday evening and pretty much just dumped it in the Man Cave.  It was hot, we were tired, it will still be there when we get to it.  It will take us a few days to put things back in usable form...then the home projects can resume!  :D

Our yard is the only one on our street that didn't get a haircut this weekend.  Ornery says it looks like this place is vacant. I guess it has been! The rain has really made it look thick and lush.  So pretty!

I plan to spend my first week at home full-time cooking and organizing.  If I cook each morning I can build the freezer stock back up. I am looking for some good ideas for chicken--something new and different.  I'll post what I find on my neglected recipe blog.  I have two new cookbooks coming in a couple of weeks, and I am hoping to resurrect some make-a-mix recipes and once-a-month cooking plans. I also plan to not eat another fast-food meal for a very long time!

As for the organizing, I am starting at the front of the house and working my way back to the back.  First room up:  The Library. Stay tuned for progress reports and photos!

  1. Have fun being domestic! But if you start cleanup in the Library, you may not get very far. (The voice of experience speaks.)

    1. Lol! The room that will have me stalled is not the library since I read on my Nook these days, but my studio. So full of pretties and ideas!

  2. Our lawn was starting to look like 'that one house on the street' too but the lawn guy finally showed up on Sunday to get it done.

    1. I sure thought we would get to it last night, but Ornery said he needed a break. Don't blame him a bit. :)

  3. You Do SO Much! No wonder you feel a little "disoriented" -

SO, do you write cookbooks, or did you order some? (OR - do you borrow from the library and make recipe cards of your favorite finds?) A LIBRARY??? Do you actually have a library in your home? I have shelves of books . . . but, a dedicated library? The thought make me shiver with possibility.

    Happiest day to YOU!!

    1. I ordered some cookbooks. YEARS ago I bought a book called Once a Month Cooking. The authors have since come out with two more cookbooks called, "Don't Panic, Dinner is in the Freezer." My daughter and I both like to have things made in advance so prep time is easy and quick, so we are going to do some monthly cooking together. I thought it might be fun to try some new recipes, as the ones in the first book were SO good!

Yes, we have a library, although there are not really all that many books in it comparatively speaking. Ornery and I both have our desks in there (for now) and there is a chair to read from in front of the big picture window. It is the first room when one enters the house, and I think it was meant to be a formal living room.

  4. If it's been raining there as much as it has here... your grass might reach the tops of your windows before you can mow....

And my basement almost always looks like Hoarders!

    1. I sure hope not! It is fairly dry today, and I am hoping he gets it mowed tonight as it is supposed to rain for the next few days.

I am more tolerant of clutter than Ornery is, and he will avoid that Man Cave until it is tidied back up. Since I have a few projects for him to work on, it will be one of my top priorities!
