A to Z Blogging: S is for Sorry Slacker

With only seven posts left for the A to Z challenge, I am sad to say that my enthusiasm is waning.  Not that I haven't been having fun because I have enjoyed meeting new people as well as the motivation to actually write something of substance besides, "Today I ate breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Not much else happened."

I certainly would not have been writing that this month, at any rate.  My life, which before March 6th was so placid it was almost boring, has become too fast and furious for me to keep up with.  I am not really too old for this, but some days I sure feel like I am!

So, my S post is to offer an apology to all those wonderful new friends whose comments truly keep me going throughout the day as I am slaving and sweating over at 507.  There is no internet there, and replies via my phone are just too complicated and exhausting.  By the time I get home at night, all I want is a shower and my bed.  So I have become a slacker on the comments and reciprocating reads.  I have the best intentions, and I do manage to read a few posts each morning before I head over to work, but I don't think I am giving all I should.  So for that I say I am sorry.  I will be better in a while--hopefully not too far into the future.

For now, however, I have all the rest of my posts scheduled and will finish the challenge, even if I have to limp to the finish line! Thanks for being here with me, and I promise I will be back to your blogs as soon as my life is my own again.

  1. we're almost finished! I wrote all my blog posts ahead of time up through "t". after that, I have to start cranking them out. I know I can do it, but I also feel your pain- getting tired.

    1. If only this was all I had to do all day! I am enjoying it a lot, and what fun to read all the comments. It has certainly breathed new life into my blog! It will be over soon, though, and I will wonder once again what to do with my days!

  2. Slacker, haha all Back To The Future there, made me go at my lair. And had mine all done, so no new posts had to come due under my sun, makes it way easier. For me the a to z is a break haha

    1. Well, since you and the cat read my posts almost before they are up and leave such fun comments, I am not slacking on reading your blog! :)

      Thanks for being so faithful!

  4. Some days I am better at the commenting and replying. I think most bloggers understand that we all have lives and we have to balance it all out. Like you I have enjoyed meeting some fun new bloggers and for me that has been the best part :)

    1. I am sure you are right. I just had much higher goals for visits than I have met. Oh, well, I am not doing too badly right now, despite my whiny post! :)

  5. I see an opportunity for a club to form. We Slackers need each other. I'm making it through, but it's going to be by falling across the finish line.

Thanks for stopping in at The Write Game. It's great to meet you.

  11. No problem. This is a lot more draining than I anticipated and it is hard to keep up with the commenting I intended to do. I appreciate you stopping by when you can. YOu are a blessing. God bless, Maria from Delight Directed Living

  12. First of - high fives for doing the A-Z.
Second - you do this for you - if and when you get around to visiting and commenting it should be to make you happy, not because you have to.

As a co-host of the 2012 A-Z Challenge I was overwhelmed with the visiting and commenting and really had to have my posts ready well before April arrived. I confess, it was stressful and not as much fun as it is when I can wing it - which is what I am again doing this year, and did back in 2011 the first time I partook of the A-Z.

The trick is to not be pressured with any of it - the posts, the visits, the commenting - because then it loses its fun aspect.

This year - given many off-blog issues (aging mother, home renos, work expansions) I really thought about giving it a miss - I then decided the posting and commenting on my blog would be where I focused my energy.

Yes... I get out and visit and comment - like now, but most of my visiting and commenting to those on the long list will be done after May 1st, when and as time permits.

Smile, Ornery's Wife, and know that you are doing exactly what you need to do for you!
No apologies necessary - it's okay to slack - just don't be sorry! :) :)

  13. LOL. I think we're all pretty overwhelmed, that or lack a life. ;) We'll get there, and then wonder what we were thinking. An entire month of blogging... Geez!

  14. The blogging wasn't too hard, I had over 50% of them completed on April 1st. The commenting and following and reading has been very time consuming. But hopefully worth it at the end. I know I have followed a slew of new blogs and my followers have increased so much. Thanks for visiting.

  15. Don't beat yourself up for not getting to everyone's posts. I am sure people understand, and even without the A to Z, it can be difficult to carve out time to do all the things we want to do. ;)

And some people are super talented at typing via phone, but not me, so I can sympathize there!

  16. I also don't consider you a slacker, and I've gotten pretty far behind too. We all just have to do the best we can.

  17. Hi Ornery's Wife - relax and don't be sorry - we can only do what we can do .. and boy have you got a lot on.

I totally endorse Jenny Pearson's comment - so go back to R and relax the brain with no W for worries .. just hope 507 is coming along in leaps and bounds ..

All the best and see you when we see you - cheers Hilary

  18. I think those of us who manage to make it to the finish line at all should get gold medals. I had no idea how exhausting this would be when I signed on ... but I have to admit I'm enjoying it.

  19. I think everyone feels with way at the end! I was ready to poop out a couple of times. That's why they call it a challenge. But you did it! If you didn't have all that work to do on the cottage, you could take a nap. That's what I did. ;-)
