Today I bought some paint for the master bathroom and one wall of my studio. The bathroom is going to be essentially the same yellow as what is currently on the walls--maybe a hint brighter but not significantly. I wouldn't even bother to paint it except for the areas around the baseboards will need it once they are lowered to accommodate the new flooring and the gouges and dings and I couldn't get an exact color match.
The paint I got for the studio is orange and it will cover the purple, which despite being a wonderful color for a guest room and sleeping turns out to be rather depressing and dark for a studio. Once I made the decision to use green, orange and a few pink accents in that room, I was able to pick the wall color. Since the other walls are already green (albeit not quite as bright as I would have liked) I am going to leave them for now.
Rather than jump right in and paint it, however, I decided to do a little finessing so once the wall is painted, I will be able to move in and set it all up with fun new stuff for the walls. The few things I have on the walls in there now are coming out with the exception of the bulletin board and the pink and white striped dahlia poster.
I spent all morning making a bunting (flag banner) for the new orange wall, and spent the afternoon working on a canvas with some of my new LuminArte twinkling watercolor paints. I know they are not designed for use on canvas, but I thought I would experiment with them and was very happy with the result--at least so far. My little work in progress will need a bit more time and effort before it is ready to hang up, but so far I am happy with it.
It was fun to work in the studio today--not on anything that I had to do, but just for myself. I am thinking the room needs a mobile, so I am going to have to think about just how I want to execute that project. I love the one we purchased last year for the living room at Miller Manor, and we have it hanging from a high ceiling here as well, but the studio ceiling is much lower and will require a smaller design. I am looking forward to exploring that creative avenue soon.
Elizabeth is off tomorrow to take care of a couple things and Friday I am going to the funeral for the mother of a friend (Dona) in Haskell. Mickie is riding with me, so we will have a chance to catch up. With those events on the calendar, I don't know how much time I will have to work on my art before the weekend, but I am glad for the start I made today.
