Endings and beginnings

This was quite a day.  Elizabeth went to TCC first thing and found out that other than the computer proficiency class she is currently enrolled in she only lacks one Humanities course to complete her associates degree in Liberal Arts. She was very excited about that bit of news, and found that she will actually be able to graduate in May but they will hold her diploma until the completion of the last course which she hopes to take online over the summer.

The internet was down all morning, which made it difficult to do the business I needed to do online, so I called Cox to have them come find out what the problem was. They scheduled a visit between 4:00 and 7:00 PM. Then Elizabeth and I ran to the PO to mail the etsy order then over to a resale shop to see if we could find some clothes for her to interview in.  She has applied for some jobs closer to home, and didn't have anything in her closet that was fit for that. She found several tops, but we didn't have much time because Ornery was coming home to drive us downtown to the courthouse.

The divorce process is by turns simple and complicated, and it would be so nice if one didn't have to actually appear in front of the judge (downtown at the courthouse which has negative associations for almost everyone!) to finalize things, but that is all part of the procedure. We arrived there at 11:30 and left at 3:00 after doing a lot of sitting around and waiting and only a little bit of actual "work." We did a LOT of people watching, however. That is always fun and interesting.  I was especially glad for Ornery to drive us there, as well as to have his company while we waited.  He is a lot of fun to have around.

We made it home before the Cox repairman called.  I told him the internet was working, but this wasn't the first time it had been down. He said he had just tested our line and our signal was very poor so he would go ahead and come over.  The previous owner had a line split with four cables off the main line, so he fixed our problem (which was aggravated by the cold weather) by removing the split and just using the main line. Since we have a wireless router for all the computers, we really only needed one cable outlet anyway. I haven't noticed that we have faster service, but hopefully we will at least have it continuously.

While we were waiting for his arrival, Elizabeth got a call about one of the applications she had submitted last week for a job here in town! It was a temp agency that represents a large company and they were going to send her resume over for a possible interview. We are really hoping she gets this as the job site is only 2.5 miles from our house and the starting wage is just a dollar/hour less than or the same as she currently makes!

We looked for a good interview outfit from within her current clothing selections including the new things we had found this morning, and decided we would make another run to the resale shop tomorrow after work. Hopefully we have time to find something before an actual interview takes place!

Even though the day was exciting, it was exhausting and stressful. Change seems to always bring with it a certain sort of tension, and ending a marriage, finishing a degree plan, finding a new job--that is a lot of change at one time!  There is still a lot more to come, but today was a really big day with endings and beginnings at practically every turn. We should all sleep well tonight!
