Weekend in Review: A Bit of This and That

Elizabeth arrived bright and early in the morning to hang out with us for the day on Saturday while Michael went to an OU football game in Norman with his dad.  She and Ornery ran all sorts of errands, including a trip to the local farmer's market, where they purchased all sorts of things that will likely become science experiments before I manage to use them up.  I hope not, but I know me.  We also did some serious belly laughing.  I hurt from laughing so hard!!

In the afternoon, she worked on a necklace--her first ever--while I worked on some paper crafts (see the design blog for more details).  Here is her necklace so far--she has more to add, but I was pretty impressed for her first run.

Other weekend happenings;

The back (she saw the photo on instagram and said, Thank goodness you ran out of things to put on there!) :)  Of course I didn't run out of things, but I wasn't sure what I could get away with.  I have some awesome stuff, but she is of a different faith, and I didn't want to offend her...

The front

• I finished off an Instagram swap for a tin, and decorated the envelope up... (pictured above)
• I made a card and decorated the envie for that for a swap on Swap Bot. 
• We grilled some burgers for lunch, then I spent a lot of time procrastinating...I need to get in the kitchen and so some serious cooking.  It's gonna happen next.  I promise.
• Ornery drilled some holes in the backs of a few dominoes for me to affix some magnets into and I decorated one of the dominoes.
• Ornery took a little bike ride.  He is not really in shape, so it was a very little ride.
• Ornery built me another Washi Tape rack.  Happiness!  It will be handy when the dozen or so new rolls arrive next week! Woot!
• I learned that if you use your tweezers to try to pry apart rare-earth magnets that the tips of the tweezers will get magnetized and you will have a hard time working with them because every metal thing goes wonky when it meets up with a magnet!
• While searching for pens (because I keep running them out of ink!!) I came across my little smiley stamp! I thought it was lost, but it has been gainfully employed on every bit of paper on my table. :D
• I also unearthed a handful of bright highlighter pens which will soon be creatively employed on some envies. :)
• I received a swap Saturday that was overwhelming in a dozen different ways.  Unfortunately the whole thing reeked of cigarette smoke and I had to throw almost everything away.  That was the first time it has happened to me.

I am pretty well caught up in the studio, and even managed to work on a Christmas gift for my sister. I have plenty of things to do, however, and I hatched a new brainchild yesterday and decided I am going to start writing to all the littles in the family--great-nieces and -nephews, and my grand children.  I am going to write one letter per week, and rotate through all the kids, there are nine two and older--or nearly two.  I'll wait a bit to add in the one year old kiddos. I hope to come up with some fun goodies to include--stickers, coloring pages, and odd doo-dads that they might enjoy.  I'll send them a Bible verse and words of encouragement. They will each get a letter about every other month, so that will be pretty nice for them.  I loved getting letters addressed to me as a child, and when I send birthday cards out, I almost always hear back that they loved the cards.  So I will start on that this week, and see what else I get done. 

Now, I'm off to the kitchen to cook up some farmer's market stuff.  And maybe eat a peach. :)
