Saturday Ornery and I celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary. The years together have been oh-so-sweet and they just keep getting better and better. Earlier in the week I made a card for Ornery... it has 33 hearts on the front, although some are hard to see. I counted them a dozen or more times, so I know they are all there!
We got up early on Saturday, had coffee on the porch and listened to the peaceful sounds of the day awakening. I cut his hair, then we showered and went to Panera with Elizabeth for breakfast. Our neighborhood's annual garage sale was Saturday, so we went to several sales looking for sweaters for Elizabeth. She is going to order a dream coat from the Enlightened Platypus, and they are less expensive if you provide your own sweaters. Several of the sweaters we gleaned from our closets, but she bought several more at the sales--none over $3.00, most $1.00. This was the time to get them!
Ornery began working on the second clock kit he got for his birthday about 18 months ago. He had set up on the small kitchen table next to the bar in the dining room while Elizabeth was finishing off my shawl. She left to go to a birthday party and I noticed Ornery was no longer working there, so I went out to the Man Cave and discovered him going through the new tool box and examining his purchase. There were many things inside that neither of us recognized, but he was very happy with his purchase anyway.
I spent some time reading and watching the videos for the Silks class I enrolled in. Oh, there are some wonderful ideas churning in my head with all I learned. I can hardly wait to get things going with them... and I am pretty sure I need more colors than the 12 I originally purchased. :) I also posted some pictures of my latest art work on my design blog.
My only other garage sale purchase was a fifty cent jigsaw puzzle, so after a nap, I started putting it together. The pieces are very small, so it went pretty slowly, but I finished Sunday morning.
Sunday we awakened to the sound of rain and wind. By 6:00, the wind finally died down, and we enjoyed our coffee on the patio again. After breakfast, Ornery and Elizabeth made a grocery run while I finished the knots on the fringe of my new shawl. Then I watered my potted plants outdoors and got things ready for lunch. Michael came for grilled burgers and dogs then he and Elizabeth went to Mayfest.
I began painting on my next journal piece which is a copy of another photo I found on Pinterest of some poppies. I have learned I need to let things dry before I move too far up the page, or I smear the paint. Sadly, I did that already on this piece. Ornery spent the afternoon in the Man Cave working on some project or another. He has a few in the works...
It was a really nice weekend, and I am looking forward to a productive week coming up.
Happy Anniversary #33! We are looking at #35 in a few weeks and M&C are at #40 I think!
