Weekend in Review: Traveling!

The company Ornery works for had a simulator in West Palm Beach, FL that needed some work, and since it was his area of expertise, and a project he had been assigned to, he needed to see to the necessary changes on site.  So, Friday morning, bright and early, we loaded up Big Red, programmed Naggie and hit the road.  We drove as far as Gulf Shores, AL the first day.  It was a really long day, but the hotel was nice and since we had points with Marriott, we were able to stay for free!

The most notable views the first day were in Mississippi when we drove through and saw beautiful tulip magnolia trees full of flowers.  There weren't a lot of them, but one was the biggest we had ever seen.

Saturday we stopped in Pensacola for breakfast, then drove to Ryan and Ale's house to drop off Big Red.  Ryan then drove us to the airport to pick up a very nice rental car for the next leg of our journey. We dropped off M&M's chairs, and got to see Makayla, but Micah had been sick with a stomach virus and was asleep, so we missed him. We got away at about 11:30, and arrived in West Palm Beach at our hotel at 9:45.  We checked into our 13th floor room and enjoyed a beautiful view of the city lights from our window.

Sunday, we moved from the room on the 13th floor to a suite on the 12th floor.  Still a nice view, but on a different side of the hotel.  It was our first stay with Embassy Suites, but hopefully not our last.  The beds are not terribly comfortable, but not too bad, either.  The selling point is the breakfast bar with an attendant who will make your eggs to order--included in the room rate!  Once we got settled into our new suite, we drove around West Palm Beach for a little while. We had Chipotle for lunch and took a few photos (with my phone) of the rich area. They have a bit of the car in them, but you can still see a little bit of our time here.

We drove by the Palm Beach Yacht Club and saw multi-million dollar yachts in a little harbor, and drove around quiet little residential streets with houses 4 or 5 times the size of Zoe Cottage.  The yards were small, but everything was immaculate, and the hedges were tall and trimmed to a T.  There were lots of people kite surfing on the rough waters, and many more walking around through the shopping area.
