Travel-log: February 11-16: West Palm Beach

Monday:
Ornery went to work after breakfast and I spent most of the day reading.  I did venture out after lunch (KFC) and did our laundry at the hotel facilities.  He didn't come home from work until late in the evening, and we stayed up reading until 11:00 -- much later than our norm.

Tuesday:
Again, Ornery went to work after breakfast.  When he came home for lunch (Sweet Tomato) he told me the inspection report had arrived but he hadn't read it yet.  After lunch we read it together--there were only a few surprises.  He went back to work at about 4:30 and stayed until around 8:30 or 9:00.  I mostly read throughout the day.  I tried a little TV scanning, but the hotel has very few channels, and none of them held any interest.

We got a text from Ryan saying Ale was going to have her appendix removed.

Wednesday:
Simulator time was open from 3:00 AM to 11:00 AM, so when Ornery woke up at 2:40, he decided to go in and see if he could get some work done while there were no others on it to interrupt.  He got quite a bit done, came home for breakfast at 7:00, took a shower and a nap, then went back to work.  At about 1:30, we went out for lunch and a couple of items from the grocery store.  We also went to Walgreen and purchased some eye drops.  The new kind my optometrist recommended is working great!  I can see and focus and life is clear again!  I have a few minutes each day when things are fuzzy, but overall, I am very pleased.  The secret for me is apparently no preservatives--which makes me wonder if I have problems with them in other areas as well.

Thursday: (Valentine's Day)
Ornery was out the door just after 4:00 AM to grab some open simulator time, and I slept in until 7:00.  We had planned in honor of Valentine's Day, we would take a little time in the afternoon to visit a mall in Palm Beach Gardens.  There was a Mexican Restaurant there we had tried a few years ago when we were here together, and we thought it might be a great place to celebrate.  It just happens to be near Whole Foods, the only grocery store I really enjoy shopping.  Unfortunately, Ornery was in the middle of something at work when we had planned to go, so we decided to try that another day (other than Valentine's Day) and it was raining, so pizza sounded really good.

Naggie had her wires crossed or something and led us on a wild goose chase to find a Pizza Hut, but while we were out wandering around we stumbled onto a little hole-in-the-wall Italian restaurant called PizzaRoma.  I am pretty sure they were from Italy, and the food was out of this world!  Best Pizza Ever! Ornery dropped me back at the hotel, then went to work until 9:00.  My nephew from Tucson called and we had a delightful little chat, and other than that, I stuck around the room and read.

Friday:
Ornery still not finished with the work he came to do, but he is down to one problem to solve.  Laundry is a must, and a few new books to read have arrived on my Nook. Cool.  After working late, coming home for a short nap and going back until 4:00 AM, Ornery finally finished his work here.  He came home at one point in the afternoon and said, "I don't know who the dignitary is that is coming in, but there are sure a lot of police lining the road near the office."  Yeah, that would be President Obama. He came for a weekend of golf.

Saturday:
Since Ornery was up most of the night, we stayed in West Palm for another day (we weren't scheduled to leave until Sunday anyway) and did a lot of napping.  We tried out another new-to-us place called Taco Vida.  Pretty tasty for fast food.  I did a little packing in the evening and we crashed at about 9:00.  Ready to rumble to the next spot!
