Weekend in Review: Productive

Friday:
Ornery took the afternoon off so we could meet with our tax accountant to get some information.  He was helpful and I think the meeting was very beneficial.  While we were there, Elizabeth had a job interview at a local place--about five miles from our house.  She should hear something on Monday.  When we got home, we finished packing Ornery's suitcase for his trip to Seattle.

Saturday:
Ornery and I left for Panera at 6:15 to have our last breakfast together for a week or more, and still get to the airport on time.  He and his sister flew to Seattle via Las Vegas and had an uneventful trip.  They were greeted by their hosts, a very hospitable couple that has been helping Janese get things settled there.  They spent the night there, then they picked up a u-haul truck and went to Daniel's house to begin packing things up Sunday morning.  Movers were scheduled to help with the heavy stuff Sunday afternoon.

While they were en route, Elizabeth pulled all the books off her book case and moved it into the dining room to prime.  She got one coat on all the surfaces, did her laundry including sheets and towels, then went with Michael to pick up his sister at the McDonald's in the middle of the turnpike. I spent the day making cards.  I got 11 made.

Sunday:
First thing in the morning, I watered my potted plants and hydrangea.  The sprinkler system had been on but two hours later the ground was just as dry as though it hadn't seen a drop of water in several weeks.  The heat here has been oppressive and seemingly never ending.

Elizabeth painted her bookcase and the frame of the mirror and touched up the dresser in a couple of places.  Then she moved it all back into the room--looks so nice!--except for putting the books away.  Then she reviewed some calculus (she is taking Calc II next semester but it has been several years since she had Calc 1, so figured some review might be important) and fixed a necklace for one of the women she works with.  While she had her stuff out she decided to make a few pairs of earrings.

While she was painting and doing calculus, I worked a new puzzle, then when she worked on the jewelry, I made seven more cards.  We have a nice collection of thank you cards now on hand for whenever we need them.  Lately they have been flying out the door!

I think there were some other things that got done over the weekend but that is the highlight.  This week while Ornery is away, I hope to get a few little projects checked off my list, but none of them will be outdoors projects.  Monday I will grocery shop, and one day I hope to get my little table finished.  Otherwise, I will continue with the card making spree--I have been using scraps for all of them, and have made great strides in clearing out some of the colors.  Whatever is left after the cards will be easily managed, whereas the quantity of small pieces I currently have stashed is hard to even look through to find anything in.

I look forward to having Ornery back next weekend--at least I hope he makes it back by then!
