Another weekend without my man around, but Elizabeth's guy was working overtime all weekend as well, so we hung out together. We slept in Saturday, then had coffee on the patio and breakfast at Panera. We came back home and she emptied out her dresser and primed it. While she worked on that, I did a little cooking some cleaning and a bit of reading.
We spent a good amount of time visiting and listening to music as well as work, and in general spent an amiable day together. Ornery called and said he was done with his part of the work in W Palm Beach, but that he still had to stay there for customer acceptance testing on Monday and Tuesday. So, he had the afternoon off as well as Sunday all day--at least at site although I think he planned to do some remote work from his room at some point.
Sunday we had coffee on the patio, but I had already showered and watered the garden before Elizabeth got up to join me. She finished off the painting project--her second one this week. Here is the little shelf unit she got done Friday...
and this is the dresser which she finished painting (except for the mirror) on Sunday afternoon.
The dresser was looking pretty rough, and one can tell by the style that it is pretty old--about 90 by my calculations. The original was all the blonde color the handles are now, but there was some veneer missing in a few places, and some water damage on the top and feet, so it really was beyond simply refinishing. The color is a dark espresso brown. She is using the same color on a book case that is currently white, and an antique rocking chair.
We are toying with the idea of painting the hall bathroom before Ornery returns on Wednesday, but I am not certain if it will get done or not. We shall see. It wasn't really a very eventful weekend, since Ornery was gone and I wasn't very motivated. Only a couple more days until he comes home, and we have several busy evenings after that with guests and other plans.
