Welcome to Zoe Cottage!

This is the new blogging home of Ornery and Ornery's Wife as we embark on a new chapter in our middle-aged, empty-nested lives.  On March 8th, 2011, we decided after 16 years to sell Miller Manor and buy a new home.  The next day the sign went up in the yard and we spent the next five weeks trying to remove all semblance of personality and color to appeal to the masses--or at least a single buyer.  On April 14th, just a little over a month later, a couple who had been looking for several months offered us a reasonable amount and we grabbed accepted it.

While we were waiting to sell, we looked online at several homes in the area we wanted to move to.  We only looked inside one other house (YUCK!) before we found Zoe Cottage.  Our primary objective in moving was to relocate to a place much closer to Ornery's workplace (this one is less than 1 mile).  The second objective was to find a home near the same size or slightly smaller with a more manageable yard, and a three car garage for Ornery's new woodworking hobby.  Zoe Cottage met or exceeded all our desires, and we are delighted to finally be moving in today.

The house is French Country Cottage style, according to the architectural report, and we had already decided to give it the name of Zoe, which means of the absolute fullness of life, both essential and ethical, which belongs to God, and through Him - life real and genuine, a life active and vigorous, devoted to God, blessed, in the portion even in this world of those who put their trust in Christ, and to last for ever.  In other words, we anticipate that Zoe Cottage will be a place of real, genuine, active, vigorous life, devoted to and blessed by God.

As for this blog, hopefully it will offer readers a glimpse into that full, vibrant life, and will render a suitable representation of our experiences as we wander through these last days. Here's to a life lived well!
