Catching Up

I missed the weekend in review post this week. When Ornery is gone, (he left on Thursday for West Palm Beach) things just don't get done.  I spent the weekend doing crafts.  My friend Mickie came over on Saturday morning and while she made paper flowers for an upcoming women's event at her church I worked on covering a couple of journals with old maps.  Elizabeth helped Michael paint at the house he is moving into next month.

Sunday morning, Elizabeth asked me to make another little clipboard for her. It turned out really cute and matched the throw she recently got for her birthday, and I liked it so well I made another like it, then kept going until I ended up with six completed boards.  After she left, I took an old shirt she had worn out and loved and cut it up.  I took off all the ruffled lace around the neckline and cut the back out of it.  Then I used the fabric to cover a stretched canvas and attached wooden leaves, paper flowers and beaded pins to it in one corner.  I need to find a frame and then a quote of some sort to add to it.  Once it is finished I will post a photo of it.  She really liked it, and while the colors/style isn't really my thing, I was pleased with the result of my up-cycle.

Monday I took care of some correspondence, then invited Mom over to work a puzzle with me.  She came in the afternoon and stayed for pizza.  While she was here she asked if I could make her a new checkbook cover since hers was wearing out.

Tuesday morning I got up and made up the remaining checkbook covers from my stock.  I ended up using all the ruffled lace I removed from the shirt on the check book covers and one note card.  I have now used up all the tins, all the checkbook covers and all the purple scraps. I also emptied several ribbon containers over the weekend while working on the clipboards.  I am on a roll!  I have only got five more journals to cover, but I imagine I will buy more of those since we use them a lot.

Ornery has the camera with him in Florida, but I will post photos of my latest creations on my design blog after he returns.  I have been enjoying using things up in my studio, and I think some of my work is getting better and more creative.  I certainly like the things I have been producing of late.  I have a small shadow box I think I might use on a project tomorrow, then I have had a hankering to make some Christmas cards.
